MICROGRIDS

Microgrids are a localized energy system that can operate either independently or in conjunction with the main electrical grid. It's designed to generate, distribute, and manage electricity for a specific area or a local community. It also offers several advantages, including increased energy reliability, the ability to integrate renewable energy sources, energy cost savings, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

They are particularly valuable in areas with unreliable grid infrastructure, a desire for energy independence, or a need for backup power during emergencies.

MICROGRIDS LIGHTING THE WAY

Microgrids are a key component of modern energy systems, supporting sustainability and resilience objectives.

ENERGY GENERATION

Microgrids can incorporate multiple sources of energy generation, such as solar panels, wind turbines, natural gas generators, or combined heat and power (CHP)

systems.

PEAK SHAVING

Microgrids can reduce peak demand charges, saving money for commercial and industrial users.

ENERGY STORAGE

Battery systems or other energy storage technologies are often part of microgrids to store excess energy for use during periods of high demand or when the primary energy source is unavailable.

GRID RESILIENCE

Microgrids can operate independently or in tandem with the main grid, ensuring continuous power supply, even during disasters.

LOCAL LOADS

Microgrids serve specific local loads, which can include homes, businesses, critical infrastructure, or entire communities.

COMMUNITY RESILIENCE

Microgrids can serve as community hubs during emergencies, offering power for critical services like hospitals and emergency shelters.
